Homeless Advocate Program

The men in our shelter need your help. Discouragement, depression, addiction, mental health issues, and more can cause pain and confusion when trying to find the right help and overcome homelessness. That’s why we need help from neighbors like you to bring the men we care about back into our community. Join us on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00pm at First Baptist Church of Essex (911 Mace Ave; Essex, MD 21221) to train in our Homeless Advocate Program. Sign up right now by filling out the form below or by calling 443-764-4249.

There are 2 ways to help:

1.       Shelter Advocate

a.       Help the men with one-on-one, hands-on encouragement right in the shelter

b.       Assist staff in knowing how to best help each guest

c.       Build lasting, meaningful relationships with our homeless neighbors

2.       Advocate Specialist

a.       Choose a resource area where you would like to help (housing, employment, essential documents, etc.)

b.       Train with us to become an expert in your area

c.       Use our resource book to find resources

d.       Make connections via phone/email with local partners to bring resources to the men we serve

See here for our list of expert areas where you can help.

Don’t miss our training and learn skills that apply both in the shelter, in your church, at work, and in your neighborhood.
